Vertebroplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, It can be classified into two types Percutaneous Vertebroplasty (PVP) and Percutaneous Kyphoplasty (PKP).
What are the difference of PKP and PVP?
Percutaneous Vertebroplasty (PVP): Under fluoroscopic guidance, a puncture is performed via the pedicle, and bone cement is injected into the collapsed vertebral body to enhance stability and block pain conduction.

Percutaneous Kyphoplasty (PKP): A balloon is first inserted into the vertebral body and inflated to partially restore the vertebral height, followed by bone cement injection.
Core Concept: Strengthening the vertebral body with bone cement → relieving pain, restoring partial vertebral height, and enabling early ambulation.

The Choice between PVP and PKP
PVP Preferred
Slight vertebral compression, vertebral endplate and backwall are intact
Old people, poor body condition and patients who are intolerant of long surgery
Elderly patients of multi-vertebral injection
Economic conditions are poor
PKP Preferred
Restoring vertebral height and correcting kyphosis is needed
Traumatic vertebral compressive fracture
What are the advantages of Vertebroplasty Set?
Minimally invasive approach: The surgery leaves only a pinhole-sized incision, resulting in minimal bleeding and no need for suturing. This significantly reduces patient discomfort and shortens postoperative recovery time.
Rapid efficacy: The pain relief rate reaches over 90%. Many patients can feel a distinct reduction in pain within hours after surgery, with their quality of life greatly improved.
Fast recovery: Patients can get out of bed with a brace within 24 hours after surgery
Completion under local anesthesia: The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, allowing patients to stay awake throughout the procedure and communicate with surgeons at any time.
